In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The Title of my magazine

The title of my magazine will be at the top of the page and will stand out because of the bold text and the colours used. When creating my magazine title i wanted it to be a simple word that would catch peoples eye. I think by using a one word title this makes it stand out more and makes it catchy.I have decided my music magazine will be called 'LISTEN' I have chose this because it clearly shows that my magazine is a music magazine because you listen to music. When deciding on the colours of my title i went through different colours and put them up against my background colour and the one that worked the most was black. When my title was just plain black i felt like it didn't look very professional and didn't stand out much so i added a purple glow around each letter because i feel like this is more eye catching and goes well with the background.

My images

Even though all the images in a magazine are important because this is what mainly draws the audiences in the main image of a front cover magazine is the most important image because this is one of the first things a person will see when choosing whether or not they would like to purchase my music magazine. I chose this image for my main image because i think this image is a great choice for my front cover. The way Holly is looking at the camera makes her look professional and serious and this is what I want my magazine front cover to look like, i got this idea from this front cover i found from my style model:

For my contents page i wanted the image to also look serious and professional. I have used a picture of Holly looking away from the camera and looking down. I think this makes the picture look professional and i think this was the best type of picture for the style of my contents page and the way its set out. It also goes well with my background. Here is the image:

For my double page spread i used an image that flows onto the second page, i think this helps the image to stand out and looks natural. My style model has also done this type of thing with the image so thats where i got my inspiration from.

The slogan
slogan is a catchy phrase or series of words used to help consumers remember a company, brand or product. I wanted my slogan to be short and snappy and i wanted to make it clear what my magazine will have featured inside. After thinking about it i decided my slogan will be 'The UK's Top Pop Fix', i chose this because i feel like it flows well and it is short and snappy so this will make it easy for readers to remember. The slogan will be placed at the top of my front cover underneath the title of the magazine. It will be in black to it will stand out over the background used.

The price
My target audience is teens so because of this i decided to price my magazine at £2.50, also this is a similar price to my style model. On my style model they put the price small at the bottom of the page by the barcode where you can't really see it, i didn't want mine to be like that so i changed it and made my price very noticeable by putting it inside a purple circle. I think having the price where people can see it might draw readers in because readers who only have a small amount of money will see that it is at a low price and may decided to pick it up and buy it. I placed the price at the side of my magazine just underneath my slogan and name of the magazine.

The Heading
The font and size of my front cover heading 'listen' is done in a way that most magazine's make their headings look. This is because its a bold text that stands out and would attract readers. Also the colours i used help the heading stand out like other magazines do.

Content
The content i have included in my magazine is similar to other magazines as i have included content that magazines often feature. In my double page spread i done a question and answer interview, this is a very a common thing for a music magazine.
