My finished front cover.

Here is my front cover of my school magazine.

My finished contents page.

Here is my finished contents page.

Adding contact information to my contents page.

To add text to the shape i added at an earlier date i used the text tool:

Then i added the text. The text i included was some contents information. I added this because i think this is what a school magazine would need. i chose for the writing to be blue, i made this decision because it fits in with my colour theme throughout my magazine and it makes the writing visible because the background of the shape is white . Here is what i wrote.

Adding contact information.

Today i used the rectangle tool to add a shape at the bottom on my contents page. I will then add text to this shape. Here is what the tool looked like:

Using this tool means i could add colour to just a certain part of my contents page. I chose the colour white because it is part of my colour theme, also i chose white because the writing is going to be blue so white will make it easier to see the writing. This is the box before i have added any text, which i will do at a later date.

Then i added my contents page text:

To make my text look the same as the it dose on my front cover, to do this i went to blending options and added effects to the text. I added the 'drop shadow', 'bevel and embross' and 'stroke' effects.

Adding a masthead to my contents page.

Today i used the text tool to add the masthead to my contents page. to do this i added a text box.to make the text the right size i used this tool.

I chose my writing to be white, just like my front cover page. I chose white because i feel like it goes well with the blue in my background. Here is what it looks like.

Adding colour to my contents page.

I then used the paint bucket tool to add colour to by background. Doing this was made easy because earlier i erased my background. I used the same colour of blue as i did with my front cover page. this keeps all of the colours the same.

Taking the background out of my contents page.

Today i started to edit my contents page. i started by using the eraser tool to take away my background. this helps me to add background colour at a later date. while doing this i also used the magnifying tool to zoom in, i done this so i could go around the edges of the picture.

Mr natton's homework

In the film 'train spotting' both Digetic sound and non-Digetic sound are used throughout the film,I am going to focus on the opening scene to thks film.

It starts with a voiceover Of the main character 'Renton', this is an example of Non-diagetic sound as it is not a part of the scene that we are watching. After this music gets played on a radio in the house they are in,this is diegetic sound. Then sound of a baby in the background comes on, this may shock the audience that a baby would be in that kind of household with them type of people. Another Digetic sound is heard when we hear the footsteps of the main character as he gets up from lying on the floor in the house. All of the sounds in the background will show how unsettled the house they are living in is.

As the scene goes on you see 'Renton' speaking the to 'mother superior'. You hear them talking about Renton's plans to stop taking drugs. mother superior comes across as he has heard all of this before and seems to think this time won't be different and Renton won't stop taking the drugs. after his conversation with the mother superior Renton then walks off because he can tell he wasn't believing him. Then a new voiceover starts, this voice over is also the voice of Renton, while speaking in the voice over Renton is talking about his conversation that he just had and said how he will in fact quit the drugs but he says "Of course I have another shot",he says this with confidence. Then a sound bridge is used, this is when sound is used to make the next scene flow in and connect with sound. The sound used is a train. This is also a contrapuntal sound because this sound has nothing to do with what we just watched in the scene. This might be used to confuse the audience.

Then the sound of the train mixes in with the noice of Renton's key entering the door to his small and basic flat. Music is then played in the background, this is also an example of non Digetic sound because it is played outside of the living world we are seeing within the scene we are watching.

Another voice over is used, this is Renton speaking again. Here he is talking about what he is going to do for the next 48 hours while he is trying to quit the drugs, while this voice over is still going on we hear the noises' of Renton nailing pieces of wood over the door so he can't get out of the flat while he try's to stop taking drugs, this is Digetic sound because we can see it is coming directly from the scene. The attention is then brought back to Rentons voice over, here he is saying what else he needs to help him get through the next couple of days. As he is speaking he starts to say the food and drink he will need,we hear the noice of the tins as he puts them down, this is Digetic sound, while Digetic sound is being used we can still hear the non-Digetic voice over,as he is placing the food and drink down Renton speaks as if he is reading of a list rather than just Saying what he will need. Doing this makes Renton seem serious about his decision to quit drugs and how determined he is to do it. While Renton is speaking classical music is being played in the background this is a non Digetic sound and acontrapuntal sound because the type of music does not match the 'mood' of the scene and it does not seem like the type of music you would assoiaoate with the people you are watching.

Then Rentons voiceover finishes, however this classical music continues to play. We hear Renton on the pay phone talking to a man called 'mikey Forrester'. He aks Mikey if he can 'just help him out'. After the phone call the classical music picks up and goes more dramatic, this is non Digetic sound. We then see mikey with two large pills in the palm of his hand passing them to Renton, his non- Digetic voice over then comes back on and he says 'this is typical Mikey',this tells us that Renton must regularly go to get drugs of him. Renton's voice over stops and be replies "what the fuck are these?" to Mikey talking about the pills he had tried to give him. This creates a comedic affect to the audience.

Text

The text

This tool allowed me to add text to the front cover of my school magazine. i had to click it and add a text box.

I then chose the text out of these font styles. i chose this type of font for my front cover because i felt like it fits in with the cover

Then underneath my masthead i added the text 'Autumn 2015, Issue 12'. I added this because this is something that magazines have so i felt like it fits is and makes my front cover look more realistic.

Media homework

cinematography quiz:

1. In this picture a high key lighting is used to create a natural effect on the actors as they are walking through a park. A two shot is used to show the two people from this scene.

2. Here low key lighting is used to create shadows on the actors face, this could be to create tension in the scene. It is a medium close up and an eye level shot, this could be so you you can the persons facial expressions.

3. high key lighting is used to make a natural effect on the actor. The angle used is a low angle, this could be used to make the actor look like she has power.

4. filters are used here to create an effect that there is light coming from somewhere else, like a street light. A high angle is used, this could be to show the person does not have much power and could be a weak person.

5. A long shot is used here so you can see both of the actors, because one of them is on the floor. filters are used to create effects on the street. low key lighting is used to create shadows.

6.Filters are used here to show a light is coming from inside the building. Low key lighting is used and this is creating tension. It is a medium long shot to show all of the people in the scene.

7. An eye level shot is used here so we can see the persons facial expressions as they are in the water. Low key lighting is used to create shadows on the mans face.

8. Here a two shot is used so we can see both people. Low key lighting is used to create shadows and it also shows that they are scared of something.

9. Filters are used to create a light coming from somewhere else. An over the shoulder shot is used, this lets us see both of the people because we can see into the mirror. Low key lighting is used to create a dramatic effect.
